breakfast egg

breakfast egg / 5 x 7

5″ by 7″ daily pastel painting, framed

It’s quite a challenge to get the composition right with an egg. I cracked two eggs this morning and the yolks kept moving around to the side. And getting those shells to stay where I placed them in the albumen . . . I  must have taken at least 30 photos for this little painting before the composition worked for me!

And yes, I had a hearty breakfast this morning!

Anyway, I saturated the colors once I started painting. All the white snow outside is making me crave intensity of color.

Snow. . that’s right. A few hours ago we had 17″ and it continues to fall. It’s a perfect day for painting.

your pastels are really nice! I’ve just started in pastel myself…have traditionally been a watercolorist and mixed media- but have always wanted to try pastels…so this is the year!
