8″ x 8″ Amaryllis flower / watercolor

This Amaryllis flower is a copy of Pierre-Joseph Redouté‘s watercolor painting. I recently purchased a book of his botanical illustrations. Since I’m relatively new to watercolor I’m learning from one of the great botanical painters.

I have a tendency to lean towards painting flowers in the spring. I’ll be out in the garden soon . . as many of you might be as well. What else is there to do?
