7″ x 14″ pastel painting, unframed
I had an urge to paint something really colorful and to loosen my hand a bit. For the past couple of months, I have been making miniature aquariums using epoxy resin to simulate the water. I’ve also been trying my hand at 3D resin art.
I already had some great reference photos of sea life, which is what lead me to paint this jellyfish.
As a child, I used to swim in the western end of the Long Island Sound. We experienced many jellyfish in the warm water during the summer but they didn’t look anything like this!
I’ve discovered the beauty of some of these creatures in my google searches. I’ve also discovered that not all jellyfish sting like the ones I experienced as a child.
