Illustrations and a Coloring Book

6 months – I think this is the longest time I’ve gone between posts! Besides summer taking over my time, no complaints, I’ve been sidetracked by a couple of things.

In the spring I was hired to illustrate ice cream cones for the labels of Beckon Ice Cream, formally known as Minus the Moo.  It was the first time I worked with a design team which was completely outside of my comfort zone but worth the time and full of challenges.
Beckon ice cream is a lactose free, milk based product. I’ve tried all the flavors and they are all delicious! You wouldn’t know it’s lactose free.

In other news I decided to share a collection of my paintings in a series of coloring books. The books were created for the folks who love to color for relaxation.  I also had the budding artist in mind. Learning the importance of value is one of the most important things a student learns. With the grayscale format the student can focus on color and at the same time learn about shadow and light placement.

This is one of the books. Two books will be published and available on next week with 2 more in the works.
Most coloring books are black and white line art images. With these books you color over the grayscale. The guess work of where to place shadows and light is done for you. Even if you only use one color the varying tones of gray underneath will change the color.

My plans for the coming months are to get back to painting along with another illustration job.
Thanks for stopping by and please stay tuned for what you signed up for . . . more pastel works are coming!
