8″ x 11″ unframed pastel painting
This painting began as an experiment between realism and abstraction. Although it became mostly realistic I think the various cut veggies take on an abstract look.
The inspiration came preparing a meal. I was making crab cakes and had a bunch of vegetable scraps left on the cutting board. I took a shot to share on instagram because I liked the composition. Painting it, as frequently happens, was the next step. I had a bit of a hard time keeping track of all the odd shapes at first until I stopped trying to identify them.
